A layout tool for comics writers. Block your panels visually, write your panel-by-panel script underneath, export the whole thing as PDF or compile a clean text script.
What's New
Side-by-side view - switch between the classic stacked layout and a page-left/script-right writing layout on wider screens.
Script lettering rows - add Dialogue, freeform Text, and SFX under each panel before placing visual bubbles on the page.
Reorder script add-ons - move Dialogue, Text, and SFX rows up or down inside a panel script.
Landscape PDF export - exports a collaborator packet with project header, rendered page on the left, script on the right, and a ComicBlocker.com footer.
The Incredible Tutorial — open New / Tutorial to load a six-page guided comic that teaches the tool using the tool.
Page mode — work on one page at a time with full controls. Use the View toggle for stacked writing or side-by-side page/script editing.
Thumbnail mode — see all your pages at once. Block multiple pages quickly with one-click templates. Drag to nudge panels. Dbl-click a page to jump back to Page mode.
Adding Elements
+ Panel — the boxes themselves. The visual frames.
+ Speech / Thought — dialogue bubbles. Add a tail from the properties panel after selecting one.
+ Text — captions, scene-setting text, signs, clock times, and other readable page text.
+ SFX — sound effect lettering (BOOM, KRAK, etc).
+ Image — drop in reference art or photo studies.
Panel templates — the dropdown drops a pre-made grid (splash, 6-panel, 9-grid Watchmen-style, etc).
Manipulating
Click any element to select it.
Drag to move. Drag the blue corner handles to resize.
Turn on Snap to align moved and resized elements to a 10, 20, or 40 pixel grid.
Shift-click elements to select more than one. Drag any selected element to move the group.
Drag the green handle (above the selection) to rotate.
Dbl-click any text element to open a larger editor for bubbles, freeform text, and SFX.
Text elements show character counts in the properties bar and larger editor.
Dbl-click a panel to jump to its script entry below.
Use the Lettering rows under each panel script for dialogue, freeform text, and SFX before you place visual bubbles on the page. Use the arrow buttons to reorder those rows.
Press Del or Backspace to remove selected elements. Use Ctrl/Cmd + D to duplicate selected elements.
Use Ctrl/Cmd + Z for undo and Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z for redo.
Writing the Script
Below each page, every panel gets a numbered script entry. Write what's happening in that panel — camera angle, action, mood. Plus a "Page-Level Direction" field at the top for stuff that applies to the whole page (lighting, motifs, etc).
Click the yellow PANEL # badge in any script entry to highlight that panel on the page above.
Use the View toggle to keep the classic stacked layout or switch to side-by-side writing on wider screens.
Pages
+ Page / − Page — add or remove pages. Default is 24 (single floppy), can grow up to 200 (full graphic novel). Removing a populated page asks for confirmation.
Move Page < / Move Page > — move the current page earlier or later in the project.
Duplicate Whole Page — copy the current page, including panel scripts and lettering rows, to a new page after it.
Duplicate Selected — copy the selected element or selected group on the current page.
Spread — toggle two-page facing-spread view (read-only on the right; edit on the left).
Saving & Exporting
Save — downloads your project as a .json file. Keep it on your computer like any other document.
Load — loads a previously saved .json back into the tool.
Autosave recovery — the browser keeps a local recovery copy while you work. Your manual .json is still the source of truth.
PDF — exports all pages as a landscape collaborator packet with the rendered page on the left and script on the right. The header uses the project and byline fields when filled out.
PDF fonts — export uses standard PDF fonts through jsPDF: Helvetica for dialogue/SFX, Times for captions, and Courier for script text and notes. Some design apps may warn that these built-in fonts are not embedded.
Compile script — generates a clean text script (Marvel-style) of the whole comic and downloads it as a .txt. Includes all panel descriptions plus dialogue/freeform text/SFX. This is what you'd hand to a collaborator if they only need the words.
Built by a writer, for writers. Your work stays on your machine — nothing uploads anywhere. If this tool helps you, consider buying me a coffee — keeps this project alive and free.
